Well after a long 9 months Samantha Jane
Broughton has arrived. Tuesday evening (3/31) my water broke, so me and Phil made our way to the hospital and checked in. I was hooked up to
IVs and told to rest until contractions started coming more regular. The midwife thought by 4 or 5 am we should be pushing baby out. Well by 8 am nothing yet, so they started me on a
Petocin drip. I was on this ALL day long. At about 1pm I was finally starting to have bad contractions on a somewhat regular base, by 3 I was in tears and ready for an
epidural. But by 4 nothing was happening. I was still at a 5, contractions were irregular and baby was
starting to show signs of distress. My
petocin was up to a 24 and normally they
don't go higher than a 10 or 12. So they put monitors in me instead of the belly ones and just waited. Until about 6pm when my room was flooded with doctors, nurses, midwife, drug guy and told me that we needed to get baby out now. So by 6:15 I was in the operating room and at 6:35pm Samantha was born. She was 8 lbs. 5oz. and 20 inches long.

I am glad that all went well, but it was a very scary ordeal to go through. The C-section was a very weird experience that I never want to do again.
We stayed in the hospital until Saturday. As soon as Samantha got in the car seat she was asleep. Every time we put her in it happens. Its great!

Skylar is very excited to have a little sister. All she ever wants to do is hold her. She has even got to feed her and is great at it.

She is very good to her. And is never more than a few feet away.

I am very tired, but that is to be expected. Samantha sleeps
alot. But is starting to have more alert wake times.
